Mailing list
Currently I only send something on the mailing list when I post something on the slog. For the blog, please look into RSS.
You can subscribe to the mailing list by sending an email to this address. If your email client refuses that, try this address.

RSS
If you don’t know what RSS is you can read more on the Wikipedia page. It is basically a simple way to subscribe to feeds that you are interested in. You just put the feed link into your feed reader program. No need to give email addresses to anyone or create an account. Companies seem to dislike this technology because it doesn’t allow for as much tracking.
I’m currently using elfeed, but that is basically just relevant for existing Emacs users. Previously I used Thunderbird1 which was nice because it was the same application for email and feeds. I think I used Feedly a while back but I can’t comment on how useful it was. Keep in mind that feed readers come in two kinds: those that require a server and those who don’t. You will probably lose the privacy benefit with the former as you will have a third party that knows all your feeds. elfeed and Thunderbird don’t require a server and Feedly does.
