Castle

My walls are my armor
They shield me from the world
keeps out the weather,
the beasts and the stranger
Inside is a human realm
Here, it is I who stand at the helm
Animals, pushed to the outside
the open and the wild
Inside, everything is clean
the absence of dirt glowing with its sheen

My carriage is my legs
My castle in miniature
Through the gates it takes me
a journey to the outside
from the safety of the inside

My ritual room is my soil
where the wizard brings me my food
Meat, wheat, beans, and greens on the shelves
simply appear as if brought by the elves

My watchtowers are my eyes
They let me see far, far away
I see cows, pigs, and chickens living at the farms

Manufactured and produced
I see the coral reefs changing colours
No
bleached by acid
I see vast, vast farmland spreading out
No
ecological desertification

They’re speaking
They’re all speaking
The cows, the corals, the sea, the soil
They are speaking
I can see it from the head of my tower
They are all speaking
But their voices won’t breach my armor
I can’t hear them
Wall upon wall upon protective wall
I can’t hear them
Down here in the heart of my castle
I can’t hear them

The voices of them all
silenced by my walls


My walls are my armor
They shield me from the world
Holding my neighbor at bay
They keep me away
Through the castle I sustain
But from the world I have to abstain


Let me out of my armor
Let me out of this prison
And let me feel their voices
